The kitty in the kitchen walks around cautiously
Locked home alone and looking slovenly
She lives to please her master and purrs resignedly
When the touch of his skin fulfills her needs
She hides behind the sofa when he is angry red
She is at his disposal but not allowed in his bed
She fears those lonely nights
When she wishes she was someone else

One fateful day she woke up after a busy dream
Crawling along to do her daily tasks
A genie in the bottle appeared miraculously
With the promise to make out what she asked
“Just make three wishes“ he said
“I will make them all come true”
“Do you dream of a place where the sky is bright and blue?”
“So let your voice be heard if you deeply want to be rescued”

The kitty in the kitchen is wounded to the core
She is walking while relieved with a face you can’t ignore
All her hopes were not vain
